Forward to the Past

The only good thing about this evenings MAFF Test was that the drift from the first to last mile was less than in previous weeks. Other than that there's not much to say. Maybe i'm not fully recovered from the back to backs. It took nearly 2 miles of a warmup to get my heart monitor to behave - perhaps it was a bit too cold to build up a sweat to get the contacts working. Either way i'm not bothered as one result doesn't make a trend and I have plenty of time before I need to step out of aerobic training.

  1. Of course you are not yet recovered from all your back-to-back marathons yet. You shouldn't even need a MAFF test to know that!

    1. I know Thomas but the second evaluation, which showed some imprevement, was the same time after my first back to back weekend. Probably the cumulative effect - good feedback all the same.

  2. What Thomas said. I'd have been expecting a much worse result. It'll be a different story in a month's time when you've absorbed the training.

  3. How about training properly and no b2b marathons? These are not good for the skeleton!

    1. Good point. I'm training for a marathon in June and experience has taught me that I need about 4 to 6 weeks of anaerobic speed training to peak. Any longer and I tend to court injury. As well as that my last breakthrough at the marathon distance followed a significant endurance event (100k) so I'm hoping the b2bs will give the same base before I start on the race specific training. As for my skeleton it's hard to argue with you, although I can't see the difference between running a 52 mile week in two days as opposed to seven days in terms of impact. My muscles are a different story.
